We decided that we would take a trip to Disney World for our family vacation this year. We thought that it would be a fun trip for Alexander and it could be all about him, since most of the year had been about the new baby. We were really excited about it too. We left on July 8th and flew on an airplane. I think that Alexander was probably just as excited about the airplane as he was about going to Disney World. It was his first time flying. He did great too. Now, Nathan and I were quite loaded down with gear to take on the airplane because we didn't want to pay extra to check some of the luggage, so we carried two rolling carry on suitcases, three backpacks, the pump bag, and of course, the double stroller onto the airplane. I'm sure that we were quite the spectacle in the airport because we ended up using the stroller as the luggage cart and I carried Julia.
After we arrived in Florida, the Disney Magical Express took us to the hotel that we had booked. We had decided to stay at a Disney resort, but chose the cheapest one because we didn't expect to spend much time in the room. We pulled into the All Star Movies Resort and it looked fine, kind of like a Disney decorated Days Inn.
When we went inside to check in, the clerk looked at our file in the computer and said, "I'm sorry. I have to talk to the manager for a minute." We looked at each other and didn't know what was going on. Then the manager came over and told us that they had overbooked the hotel and that they needed to move us to the Port Orleans resort, which was a step up and one of their moderate resorts, for no extra charge. We jumped at that chance. They rooms at the Port Orleans cost at least $60 more a night than the All Star Movies Resort. Here are some pictures of the Port Orleans. We weren't at the other hotel long enough to get pictures of it.

This is the main building from the Port Orleans resort. It was gorgeous! |

This is what the building the we stayed in looked like. They had a lot of these buildings all over the resort. |

The hotel was built on a man made canal. They had water taxis that you could ride to Downtown Disney. |
The next day, we started on Disney adventure. We spent the day at the Magic Kingdom. It was a lot of fun. I think that Alexander was a bit overwhelmed at first, but he quickly got used to what to do. He was a champion at waiting in line and he tried a lot of different rides. Julia even got to ride most of the rides. His favorite thing to do was find the Disney characters. Here are lots of pictures from the Magic Kingdom.

Julia spent a lot of time in the Ergo. It was a godsend on this trip. |

Riding It's a Small World. That is a really long ride! |
|
Julia rode it too! |
|
Waiting to see Pooh and Tigger. It was really hot! |
|
We love Pooh and Tigger! |
|
Alexander's dessert at dinner. It is HUGE! The Disney restaurants were so wonderful with his allergies. They made sure that he always had a special dessert to eat! |

Riding the Buzz Lightyear ride. |

So tired at the end of the day! |
I have to say that my favorite part of all the Disney parks was the baby care centers. They have one in every park and it is a place where you can change and feed the baby. It's air conditioned. They have a separate nursing room with muted lighting and a place to buy things that your baby might need. It was awesome! Julia and I spent a lot of time in there. The first two days were great and I'll post some more about our trip soon!
